School Facilities

We are exceptionally happy to announce that Holy Family School is continuing to expand. We have a new building underway which is due to be opened for September 2016. This new building is only going to further enhance the pupil’s education here at Holy Family School.  We are at present fortunate in being able to offer a wide range of facilities,

Our current school provides access to the following facilities:

15 classrooms: All classrooms are equipped with Interactive White Board facilities. With our growing population we had to creatively improvise to form classroom settings by converting alternative spaces throughout the school such as our Library and craft rooms. We are excited that with the new building we will be able to offer 15 large, bright and spacious classrooms. Each will be furnished according to each class specific needs.

Large assembly hall: This space is timetabled so that each class has a time to make use of the large facility on a weekly basis. It also provides the ideal setting for large group or whole school occasions such as sensory workshops, drumming workshops as well as our monthly prayer services

Therapy room: This comfortable and peaceful room creates a safe space to provide individual therapy to pupils. This therapy is either in the form of music therapy or reflexology. Pupils have the option to avail of this facility with reflexology incurring a small weekly cost to parents.

Canteen: The canteen is fully fitted out with a servery for hot food. Pupils receive a cooked lunch each day. The setup of this facility affords the pupils the experience of preparing a space for eating. Pupils queue, wait for and order food for lunch. It is a busy environment in which the pupils are learning essential life and social skills.

Laundry room: Classes take it in turns to take responsibility for the organising and maintenance of the laundry room. Here pupils are to follow clearly outlined sequential steps to carry out duties in the laundry room. This provides an alternative opportunity to enhance pupil’s life skills in an alternative and very practical setting.

Home Economics Room: We are very fortunate to be enabled to offer out senior cycle pupils the chance to undertake Home Economics as a subject. We have a purpose designed Home Economics Classroom with all the essential cooking resources. The adjustable furniture makes the equipment easily accessible to all pupils. Home Economics is one of the core subjects for the pupils undertaking the L2 Junior Cycle certificate programme.

Multi-sensory room: This is a soothing space that appeals to our senses. It provides a calm relaxing area for pupils to appreciate and enjoy throughout the school day. The room has an aroma panel containing different scents such as lavender and eucalyptus; there are a variety of visually stimulating resources also such as a bubble tube, a fiber optic shower, a projector and four different coloured lights surrounding the room.  Soft music plays in the background, while there are many different textures for pupils to explore.

Play room: Presently we have a small play room containing a number of resources to promote gross motor skills and to improve core muscles. There are slides, steps, peanut rolls and a balance bike. This room allows for space to facilitate child specific programmes on an individual capacity. It also allows for a safe space for children who require movement breaks.

Outdoor playground: Each classroom on the junior corridor has an adjoining playground. This contains full playground facilities. It is a safe and secure facility for children enjoy free play which is easily accessible and supervised.

Speech and language therapy room:
This allows a space for meetings with the Speech and Language Therapist on both a consultative and hands on basis. A Speech and Language Therapist is based in the school for 2.5 days of the school week and operates from this room.

The Sensory Garden:

Our school is built around a sensory garden. It provides a peaceful, tranquil space, where the pupils can enjoy some chill out time.

School bus: The school bus allows children to experience the world of education outside of the classroom and opens the pupils to a wide range of opportunities such as Horse Riding, Class Trips and Social Visits.

We are very fortunate to be under the patronage of St. Josephs Foundation and as a result we have access to a number of other fantastic amenities within the campus such as;

·         Swimming/hydrotherapy pool

·         Garden Centre

·         A Prayer Room

·         An all-weather AstroTurf pitch

·         A walking track
