Our Staff are continually striving to provide the best education for all the pupils at Holy Family Primary School, so therefore are always willing to up skill themselves by undertaking the most up to date professional development courses. Many of the courses are undertaken by individuals based on the specific class needs during that academic year.
The majority of staff have received training in;
- MAPA: Management of Actual or Potential Aggression.
With the training, we enable staff to safely disengage from situations that present risks to themselves, the pupils, or others.
This training is refreshed every two years.

- Junior Cycle; The Level 1 Learning Programmes (L1LPs) and Level 2 Learning Programmes (L2LPs) School Training: the Junior Cycle L1LPs and L2LPs are targeted at a very specific group of students who have general learning disabilities. This training provided guidance to staff as to how to support and plan for pupils undertaking these programmes. The Learning Programmes are built around Priority Learning Units (PLUs) that develop the basic, social and pre-vocational skills of the students involved.
-Training in the administration of buccal midazolam: buccal midazolam is administered for the control of prolonged or continuous seizures. Given promptly, this relatively simple procedure can prevent major disruption to daily life resulting from hospital emergency treatment. It is important that our staff are competent and confident in the safe administration of this treatment. This training is kindly provided by St Joseph's Foundation.
